I used to live, lit by the flame.
I used to give the shadows names
My eyes would strain in the dim light.
I was so proud of my birthright.
If I couldn’t look into the fire,
then how could I stand the light of the day?
But once I knew it was out there, I could never stay.
You don’t have to let it own you.
You don’t have to let it be who you are forever.
You can let it go. You can let it all go.
“For the wisdom of man is folly,
and their wickedness tempts us away.”
It was such a convenient prophecy.
It held a powerful sway.
Guilt shouldn’t be any mind’s penance,
and love shrouds itself not in shame.
“I’m gonna do what makes me happy.”
should never be this hard to say.
You don’t have to let it own you.
You don’t have to let it be who you are forever.
You can let it go. You can let it all go.
Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t be better if I weren’t so damned scared of lying to myself.
Sometimes, I wonder if it wouldn’t have been better if I’d just been able to lie to myself.
If I’d just stayed inside that closet, and kept my world that small...
Because, right now, I might be freer, but I don’t know where the edges are.
But isn’t it amazing?
To run toward everything?
To grasp into the ether?
It’s terrifying to be this free.
It's breathtaking.
You don’t have to let it own you.
You don’t have to let it be who you are forever.
You can let it go. You can let it all go.
I don’t want to let it own me, but it’s gonna be a part of who I am forever.
I can’t let it go, but I can make it all go.
I can make it all go.
I work to make it all go.
Don’t go back.
Don’t ever rest.
Found this album at a time I was in the habit of having a bad dream about you and me. It's great, the song's great, the band's great, corn dogs are probably mid at best. vincentavatar
I got this album on another platform when it first came out, and I thought it was excellent. It came out at a time I was searching for more punk music. For me, it really hits a perfect mix of having incredibly articulate, evocative lyrics and inspiring me to move when I hear it. To this day, it's one of my favorite albums to come out. blujacket
